After events that happened in Tunisia, FEMED wants to take part in the "solidarity call" initiated by FIDH. The Euro-mediterranean Federation against Enforced Disappearances (FEMED) is fully supporting Tunisians and human rights organisations in Tunisia. Thanks to an exemplary movement, they manage to initiate a democratic change. During this transition period, the FEMED will stay alert regarding human rights and the setting up of a democratic process.
27 April 2011, The International Day for Missing Persons The International Day for Missing Persons was marked this year also, with the anxiety and sorrow of family members of missing persons.
27 April 1999, marks the most tragic day in the recent history of the Albanian nation. Upon the request of the Association of Organizations that deal with identifying the fate of missing persons the Parliament of Kosova adopted the decision that 27 April is marked as the National Day of Missing Persons in the Republic of Kosova. Exactly on this day in the village of MEJE, vicinity of Gjakova town, 376 men and young people have been killed and massacred by the Serbian army, police and paramilitary troops.
13 January 2011 (IRIN) - Asma Al-Haidari, an Amman-based Iraqi human rights analyst and advocate, says the phenomenon of enforced disappearances in Iraq touches the whole population, irrespective of age, gender, ethnicity or religious belief. The number of missing persons in Iraq ranges from 250,000 to over one million, according to the International Commission on Missing Persons (ICMP).

The Universal Periodic Review: Algeria is criticized by its peers The review of Algeria within the framework of the Universal Periodic Review (UPR) highlighted, on May 29th, 2012, the concerns of several UN member states with regard to restrictions to public freedoms and the unfair treatment of the dossier of disappeared persons.
The Asian Federation Against Involuntary Disappearances (AFAD), a regional federation of human rights organizations working directly on the issue of enforced disappearance in Asia, joins the international human rights community in strongly condemning the Algerian authorities for violently dispersing a protest by families of the disappeared persons in the country.
